If you're looking for a present for a party that is genuinely funny or rude, you probably want something that is either unusual, something that makes the recipient feel noticed or something that they will really appreciate. What's so special about a stag or hen party?
I don't think it's just me; there is something about a stag or hen party that makes people behave in ways they wouldn't normally. I suppose it's something to do with the social expectation, but at these sorts of events people seem much happier to be silly. Maybe they're happy to let themselves go because they are part of a group and any attention will be spread between all of them. Or maybe it's because they're drunk and will probably forget anything embarrassing that happened.
Whatever the reason, I think we can agree that these events are normally quite fun and playful.
What sort of gift would be appropriate?
The obvious answer is something rude, but that's not very helpful. What sort of rude? Is it supposed to make them laugh or just feel uncomfortable? Or maybe both. Do you want it to be something they use at the event or after? Or maybe it's something they keep forever as a memento?
I think there are two main options here: either buy them something they'll use at the event, or something they keep, probably for years.
If you want them to use it at the event, what is it? Something wearable or edible or usable in some other way? If so, what do you want the affect to be? Should it make them feel embarrassed in front of their friends (and strangers), maybe by making them look silly or childish? Or maybe you want them to stand out in some way?
Alternatively if it's something edible or drinkable then presumably you'll want everyone else to join in too so you'll need to buy enough for everyone.
Or if you want them instead to keep it forever as a reminder of this special event then think about how it will make them feel when they see it years later. I guess the best result would be for them to smile and remember what an excellent day they had.
How can I make sure they'll like what I buy?
First you need to have an idea of whether they're the sort of person who likes being given attention and being made fun of. The best way is just to ask other people who know them well – I'm sure it'll come up in conversation anyway.
Once you've worked that out you need to think about what sort of humour they'll like – again this will probably come up in conversation with friends during your planning.
