Overview
There are two ways to choose the right card: think about what sort of thing he’ll like, or just pick something that you like. I’m sure you know which of those is the best strategy. Read on and I’ll help you figure it out, but in short: look at the cards and just imagine how he’d react to each one; I’m sure one of them will stand out.
If you want to buy an anniversary card for your boyfriend or husband, it’ll be pretty easy to find one if you just want a generic and boring one, but it’s much harder if you want something special that he’ll really appreciate.
I suppose we’re all pretty similar in some ways, but also very different in others. That makes it impossible for me to tell you what sort of card he’ll like. For example, some people like soppy romantic cards and others like playful ones. If I had to guess though I’d say that most men would prefer a silly playful card rather than a boring romantic one. But as I said – they’re all different.
What is the purpose of giving him an anniversary card?
That might sound like a silly question but it’s worth thinking about before buying anything.
A good question to ask yourself is how do you want him to feel when he receives and opens the card? For example:
- You want him to feel loved and valued as your partner
- You want him to feel appreciated for all the things he does for you
- You just want to make him laugh
- You want him to know you’re thinking about him?
How do you know what sort of thing he likes?
This is something you probably already know – or at least have some idea about, after all if you’ve been together long enough to celebrate an anniversary, you must have learned something about what sort of person he is!
A good way to work it out is just think back over your time together and try to remember if there’s anything particular that has made him react in a notably happy way.
For example:
- Is there something you’ve done for him that has made his face light up? Or perhaps something someone else has done?
- Was there any time when he seemed extra happy or proud?
Or maybe it’s easier than that – maybe he’s told you what sort of thing he likes; either directly or hinted at it.
Do men even care about getting an anniversary card?
This is a great question and again, we’re all different so there isn’t a general answer that applies to all men… but yeah I can try anyway.
From what I’ve learned from being a man myself (and knowing other men) most of us don’t really care about stuff like this, although we’d probably never admit it. Although having said that we do like being made a fuss of by someone who cares enough about us – whether that’s our partner or anyone else.
I think most men are generally more relaxed than women, in terms of how they feel about things like this – maybe we’re just more simple-minded. If I had ever received an anniversary from my wife (which I haven’t), I’d be happy with any kind as long as she was nice enough to give me one.
So yeah if your man is anything like me then don’t worry too much about choosing the right kind as he’ll probably be happy with whatever he gets.
What makes an ideal anniversary card for your boyfriend or husband?
The fact that you’re reading this means that I can guess what sort of person your man is… because only a certain type of person would come here; most people would go straight for the safe choice from one of the big shops.
So yes, this means whatever card you choose from here will be perfect!
But seriously though, if your man likes fun things (which I’m sure he does) then buying any old boring generic card won’t work; he’ll either not care or possibly even be offended by your lack of effort.

Which should you buy: a funny anniversary card or romantic one?
Well yeah as always this depends on his personality! If you decide that he wants a romantic one then maybe we can help, but honestly most people buy funny ones from us so we don’t have many romantic ones. And those that do seem romantic are usually meant as a joke anyway!
